Don’t let being busy get in the way of being prepared for your job search. Sure, it’s that time of year where it seems like we are running to twelve different stores, making dishes to bring to parties or family dinners, finding somewhere new to put the elf that can’t just sit on a shelf, shopping, wrapping, cleaning… Phew!
Remember, while December may be a slow hiring period, you should still be taking time to ensure you’re ready in case someone calls. Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community during this festive time while you brush up on some of your skills and meet people who may be able to help find you that next great job! It doesn’t need to be a project that takes over all your spare time, but enough to keep you in the loop and job ready for your next interview.
Don’t have time to volunteer? That’s okay! Another way to stay prepared is by following a job training site on Facebook or Instagram. This way, while you’re sitting on the bus or waiting in a line somewhere, you may find tidbits of information to tuck away for your next interview as you scroll through your feed.
The important thing is that you stay active and alert to possibilities.
